Longtime Carbon Monoxide Eliminator for Chrysler Vehicles Re-Examined: The Catalytic Converter
 by: Joe Thompson

Catalytic converters, the longtime companion of Chrysler vehicles in trimming down their carbon monoxide emissions, have been getting a lot of buzz this week. News about catalytic converters giving off toxic metals must have been the reason for all of this noise. Add to that the heightened alarm brought by news about carbon monoxide poisoning. Because of these recent events, we have found it necessary to review once again the role that Chrysler catalytic converters play for Chrysler vehicles.

Catalytic converters are emissions-control products designed to reduce or to clean up the harmful exhaust emissions in gasoline-powered vehicles. Since 1975, most new gasoline-powered vehicles, including Chrysler petrol-powered vehicles, have been equipped with catalytic converters. So far, the invention has been functioning well. In fact, a majority of the catalytic converters installed in vehicles today can efficiently reduce vehicle carbon monoxide emissions by as much as 80 percent.

There are many types of catalytic converters. Among those that can be seen often in Chrysler vehicles is the three-way catalytic converter. Three-way catalytic converters got their name from the fact that they are designed to reduce three types of harmful engine emissions—carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide. Because of this, the structure of these converters are quite complex although easy to understand.

Do More Than Just Cover Your Honda Wheels
 by: Joe Thompson

Out in the market today are many types of wheel covers specifically made for your beloved Honda. Honda wheel covers actually do more for your Honda than just cover your wheels.

Wheel covers are commonly mixed up with hubcaps. However, looking more closely at these two, wheel covers cover the entire wheel of your vehicle, while, on the other hand, hubcaps, cover only the hub, or the center of your wheel. These wheel covers are made from tough material - they are created and manufactured using plastic or metal retainers, so as to facilitate better and easier fastening to your Honda wheels. They are clipped on your vehicle’s wheel to accentuate your wheels and, at the same time, protect it from mud, grime, snow, dirt, water, and other elements that could prove to be damaging or corrosive to your wheels.

Honda wheel covers are not necessarily considered a requirement for your car, however, they can actually improve your wheels’ appearance greatly. You see, wheel covers have been created to cover your entire wheel and conceal from view the ugly bolts that attach your wheel to its axle. And along that line, it adds distinction and uniqueness to your Honda wheels to your Honda’s overall appearance.

How to Choose a Radar Jamming Device

How to Choose a Radar Jamming Device
 by: Bill Carmel

Radar detectors come in all shapes and sizes, but may not be effective enough to work to protect you against costly speeding tickets. Many motorists choose to invest in radar jamming devices instead of radar detectors that may leave your car unaware of potential speed traps, police officers, or state troopers waiting to ticket speeding.

Radar detectors do just that—detect radar beams that are being distributed from the radar guns of police officers or state troopers. If these radar guns are incompatible with the specific brand or type of radar detector your purchase, you will be left unaware of potential speed traps. Furthermore, radar detectors can be tricked by other items that are not meant to detect speeders. These false alarms can be annoying and still leave you open for potential speeding tickets that can not only wreck havoc on your wallet, but also your driving record and car insurance policy.

Radar jamming devices, again, work as named. These devices work to literally jam radar guns, so that police officers or state troopers will be unable to directly pinpoint your speed. Instead of radar detectors that can be tricked or evaded by the radar guns, a radar jamming device has to capability to work against the majority of radar guns used by law enforcement officials on the highways and roadways of this country.

Car Accident Injuries - Causes and Preventive Measures

Car Accident Injuries - Causes and Preventive Measures
 by: John Schwartz

Car accidents that cause injuries have happened virtually since automobiles were invented. The first recorded accidental injury occurred in 1869. An Irish woman named Mary Ward was thrown out of the steam-powered carriage she was riding in when it hit an especially deep rut in the road. She was immediately crushed by one of the wheels, her injuries causing an instantaneous death. Her cousin had actually been the inventor of this new type of vehicle, in a cruel example of irony.

Over the last 25 years or so, car accident injuries resulting in deaths have declined an impressive 50% worldwide. This is due primarily to increased emphasis by both governments and car manufacturers on safety, including the standard use of air bags to reduce the number of severe injuries and deaths caused by front and side car-to-car collisions.

Sadly, the United States is one of the few nations where injuries and fatalities caused by cars have increased over this same period. Experts suggest that this has several causes, including an increased number of motorists overall, a steady increase in the number of large trucks and SUVs sold, and a sharp rise in the numbers of people using cell phones and other technological gadgets while driving their cars.

The Differences between Laser and Older Radar Detectors

The Differences between Laser and Older Radar Detectors
 by: Doug Mahopac

The newest trend with radar detectors is devices that generate laser lights using a semiconductor. This new technology far surpasses the older radar detectors that uses radio signals to detect police.

Detectors that use lasers, also known as “ladar,” are the cutting edge and users experience fantastic success with the newer models. Since police now use guns that are a combination of laser and radar, these radar detectors work by picking up the laser portion and transmitting a sound to warn the driver of their speed. Some police and state patrols are now using narrow laser beams, which are much more difficult to detect. The older radar detectors are completely at a loss when it comes to these narrow laser beams, but the new laser radar detectors can detect these beams, although the advanced notification is severely limited.

For the most part, laser detectors offer a faster lock-on time, which averages around one-third of a second. The laser beams are confined to a limited spread, usually around six feet for about 2,000 feet of space. This allows the beams to be recognized more quickly, giving the driver more advanced notice.

Who Else Wants Low Cost Auto Insurance?
 by: Dean Shainin

Those TV commercials featuring happy customers who saved money and got low cost auto insurance aren’t just hype. After many years of rate increases and premiums, the cost of auto insurance is finally starting to come down. But auto insurance companies are still choosy about who can get a break on their insurance costs.

It is wise to start with your current auto insurance company to make sure you’re paying as little as possible for your premium.

The next step is to consider other ways to get low cost auto insurance and the discounts you can take advantage of.

Effective Ways To Get Low Cost Auto Insurance

* Buy A Safer Vehicle. Premiums for collision and comprehensive coverage depend on accident and theft claims and the costs of repairing your vehicle. The more expensive the vehicle, the more you will pay. Buying a safer car can help you get low cost auto insurance. Simply look into vehicle ratings. Auto manufacturers have 1 to 5 star government crash test ratings. A 5 star crash test rating is the best a vehicle can get.

Roadside Diversions Drive Motorists To Distraction
 by: James Gore

UK drivers are putting themselves at risk because they struggle to keep their eyes on the road.

Roadside objects such as billboards, flashing signs and Christmas decorations cause a third of motorists (32 per cent) to lose concentration while behind the wheel. And 41 per cent of these drivers confess to being distracted for up to 5 seconds - which equates to driving 15 car lengths at 30mph - two and a half times the stopping distance needed at this speed. At 60mph, this means drivers would find themselves travelling at least the length of a football pitch without their full concentration on the road.

Overall roadside distractions are pulling the attention of 83 per cent of UK drivers away from the roads, Privilege finds.

And it’s male drivers who are most affected as one in five (22 per cent) confess to being captivated by scantily-clad women on adverts, compared to just one in ten female drivers by semi-naked male models (11 per cent).

As public spaces become cluttered with illuminating and moving visuals, 26 per cent of British drivers have been distracted by huge advertising hoardings, a fifth (21 per cent) by the new vehicle activated signs and 17 per cent by Christmas lights and decorations.

The Muscle Car Craze

The Muscle Car Craze
 by: Jason Tarasi

Somebody once asked me why I was so fascinated with muscle cars. You know, it’s hard for an outsider looking in to understand why we muscle car lovers are so fanatical about our cars. Until they’ve been behind the wheel of a newly restored ‘66 Pontiac GTO, they just haven’t a clue.

Why is it that we can browse through muscle car advertisements for hours on end? Why do we have to go to every muscle car show that comes near our town? Why do we drive out of our way to see some of the hottest muscle cars around? Why do we seemingly pour all of our extra money into our muscle cars?

Some people think a passion for muscle cars comes from peer pressure - a need to impress other people per se. As a muscle car enthusiast I can honestly say that’s not it, at least not for me. My interest in muscle cars dates way back to before I was ever concerned about what anybody thought. I have always found muscle cars to be fascinating and exciting.
