Favorite Car Song and Why
 by: Sue and Chuck DeFiore

I have a number of favorites, however, my all time favorite is Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody.

Since living in an extremely cold climate means taking your Corvette off the road in the winter months, a winter car is a must.

So in September we started looking for a car for winter and found a beauty, a 2 door dark green 1976 Lincoln Town Car, 5035 lbs with a nice big V-8 (460) that rode like a dream, and talk about hauling a**. I can still remember the night we picked it up. With only having the Corvette, Chuck did most of the driving. Since I hadn’t driven in a while, I told him to take it easy since I hadn’t driven in the dark for quite sometime. Well, anyone who has even driven this car knows that 30 feels like you are crawling and before you know it you are up to 50 or 60. So, yep, you guessed it, there we were on the back roads and Chuck is punching the Corvette to keep up with me. I was in heaven, with all that horsepower and car around me again. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Corvette, but since my first car was a 2 door 1962 Chevy Belair being in a big car again put me in seventh heaven, and this one was even bigger and faster than my first one.

The Hidden Costs of Car Leases

The Hidden Costs of Car Leases
 by: Amy Metz

Be honest- are you one of those people who just loves new cars? I knew it. That’s OK, we are in the same boat. I love new cars just as much as you do. But I like not overpaying just as much if not more than you do. That’s why, when it comes to car leases, I make sure and really get to know my options and whether I should be leasing or buying my vehicles. As I’ve learned (the hard way) a few times, there are all sorts of hidden costs involved in leasing a new car. And they aren’t what you think they are. Lets look at a few of them.

1) The monthly lease payment. Did you know that there are unscrupulous car dealers out there who will blindly rip you off if you let them. That’s right. And your monthly payment might have been arbitrarily made up by one of these dealers on the spot just by looking at you and deciding how much money they should charge you. Make sure and question everything on the lease form and ask in depth questions as to why you should be paying what you are. The fine print can be your friend, use it against the car dealer to negotiate a better deal somewhere else.

Car Accident Checklist: Are You Prepared?
 by: Amy Metz

I’ve got a confession to make. I’ve been in a car accident before. Granted, it wasn’t my fault at all (both my opinion and the insurance company’s opinion). However, once it happened, I realized that I should have been better prepared for the car accident the day it happened. Since I realized this, I decided to make a checklist for things to have in case of a car accident. Here we go

1) Insurance Papers. Make sure you have your insurance papers ready to give to the other party in case they need to see them. These can also come in handy to give to the Police if they arrive on the scene of the accident. In some states, having car insurance is mandatory for the operation of a motor vehicle and you can be fined if you don’t have any insurance. Make sure you insurance paperwork is in order before finding out that it is necessary to have.

 by: Maricon Williams

Helmet is the most important motorcycle apparel that a rider can wear. Basically, it protects the head, skull or brain.

There is an ongoing dispute about helmet’s significance. Some say it is futile to use them. On the other hand, there are those who recognize their importance and treat helmets as a

Helmet saves lives. There have been a lot of misconceptions but let us contemplate which is the truth as compared to the lies. How do we gauge? Let us acknowledge its advantages.

First, it prevents or reduces the gravity of brain and facial injuries. Second, it lessens wind noise. Third, it protects the eyes from windblast and other hazardous debris. Lastly, it provides greater comfort and protection. With these advantages, why would you consider not wearing them?

The kind of helmet that gives optimum protection is that of a full-face helmet. It is recommended by manufacturers, professional riders and testing authorities. However, other kinds of helmet are also good provided they pass the DOT or SNELL testing standards since these two are the most trusted testing authorities in the United States.

Motorcycle face and eye apparel saves face. Every rider who has been hit by debris, bugs or insects, blaze of the sun can go into details on how they are benefited by said motorcycle apparel.

Windshields and sunglasses may not offer the best protection that we need. This is because debris, wind, bugs or insects may still pass behind a windshield. On the other hand, sunglasses or goggles with shatterproof lenses may not seal out the harsh wind or water from entering our eyes.

Why This Lawyer Says You Should Buy Car Insurance From An Independent Broker

Why This Lawyer Says You Should Buy Car Insurance From An Independent Broker
 by: Philip L. Franckel, Esq.

I don’t sell car insurance, but as a lawyer practicing in the field of personal injury I frequently see people suffer because they have the wrong insurance coverage. Often, this happens because they purchased directly from an insurance company instead of an independent broker.

Many of my clients who have been seriously hurt in a car accident were struck by someone who had no insurance or only the minimum liability insurance coverage, which is $25,000 in New York and much less in many other states. Unfortunately, many of my clients were sold insurance policies with liability limits of $100,000 or $300,000, but were not sold matching uninsured and underinsured coverage.

Just this week, yet another new client had this problem. My client was a pedestrian crossing the street when she was struck by a car which fled the scene. The driver was caught shortly after leaving the accident, but the owner of the car only has the New York State minimum liability insurance of $25,000 and my client has serious injuries consisting of many broken bones including a fractured arm, leg and skull.

How To Handle A Hard Ride
 by: Maricon Williams

As an active rider, I am susceptible to different kinds of weather. The best as we all know is dry and sunny ride. It is good to feel the warmth of the sun under your kin. It is nice to feel free-spirited again and feast your eyes on strange, peculiar and scenic spots in the locality you are driving.

Nonetheless, what makes it a little harder is when the weather turns rainy- wet and slippery. It is quite hard to drive on a rainy season especially without your visors on. We have to be equipped with the right motorcycle accessories and apparel. In fact, you have to be really prepared in order to withstand the weather. We have to weather the weather whether we like it or not.

From helmet, visors/sunglasses to raincoat, latex gloves or waterproof pants, vests and boots - we got to have them all or else you are going to travel cold, shivering and unable to focus.

How A Woman In Cleveland Paid 89 Cents For A Gallon Of Gas An How You Can Too.
 by: Scott Siegel

In August of 2005 the price listed as the price for a

gallon of regular unleaded gas was $2.29. That same day

Kellie Courtney of Cleveland paid only 89 cents a gallon.

Marion Charvat paid $1.09 a gallon. Marion filled her

Volkswagen Jetta for only $12.45. How could they buy gas

so cheap? They did it because they are smart consumers.

Here’s how they did it.

The reason that Kellie and Marion were able to purchase

gas at such a low price is that they treated gas like it

was any other item that they would go to a store to buy.

They shopped around and they found a way to purchase their

gas at the store that they found had the absolute lowest

cost. They found a frequent shopper program that allowed

them to lower their gas cost. They found it at a grocery

chain called Giant Eagle.

Weight and Motorcycle

Weight and Motorcycle
 by: Maricon Williams

Have you ever bothered about the significance of weight to your bike? Maybe yes, but to other riders, the answer will be on the negative.

Weight affects the performance of the motorcycle. In fact, it greatly improves the bike’s braking acceleration and deceleration. Thus, to reduce the weight of the wheels can make a great boost. That change can be a catalyst to achieve your most desired motorcycle performance.

Motorcycle parts and accessories play an important role in the performance of the motorcycle. They can break or make a history. This is the reason why we have to know them by heart and apply the best solution to bring out the best in every part.

In connection to weight, it must be correlated to these motorcycle parts. Say for instance, the tires. Weight can be considered in two ways - the static weight and the dynamic weight. The first speaks of the weight the motorcycle is not moving while the former deals with the weight when the motorcycle is at motion.
